General Site Supervisor

Location: Muskoka

Full-time Position: To start immediately,

Annual Salary: To be negotiated

(to commensurate with experience)

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring multiple construction sites for adequate staffing levels and working with the Vice President on recruitment
  • Site direction to all related sub trades & Tamarack co-workers
  • Municipality representation for periodic site inspections
  • Field administration: Monitoring timesheets submission, manage labour quantities, communicate effectively with all site supervisors & job foreman.
  • Building code interpretation & compliance.
  • Drawing interpretation. Must have the foresight to communicate with the project manager on any item requiring client input.
  • Ensure all schedules set by project managers are met.
  • Meet with clients in parallel with Project Managers to discuss upcoming items.
  • Project close-out: Ensure sites are prepared for final inspections, deficiencies addressed, warranty work and site demobilization.
  • Ensure employment & safety legislation are focused and compliant, including all emergency procedures & record-keeping requirements.
  • Employee reviews, and any required disciplinary action.
  • Management of the Apprenticeship Training Program

EDUCATIONAL & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Journeyman certificate and/or postsecondary diploma in a related discipline an asset.
  • 5+ years of supervision experience in commercial or high-end residential construction.
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience in construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, and methods and procedures.
  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles and embed solutions in construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; proficiency with scheduling software an asset.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and be willing to travel the district as required.

Project Manager

Location: Muskoka

Full-time Position: To start immediately,

Annual Salary: To be negotiated

(to commensurate with experience)

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Municipality representations and inspections
  • Design engineering within discipline (ie. structural, mechanical, civil etc.)
  • Estimating
  • Subtrade control including:
    • Tender acceptance and reconciliation
    • Contract awards
    • Contract completion verification’
    • Payment reconciliation
    • On-site support
  • Job cost tracking
  • Schedule development
  • Code interpretation
  • All facets of client representation

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certified Engineering Technologist/Civil Engineer or similar related program in the construction industry.
  • 5 years experience specializing in engineered light wood frame structures would be an asset.
  • Commercial Project Management experience is valued.
  • Excellent working knowledge in AutoCad and the Microsoft platform -including Project. Experience using Sage 300 CRE (Timberline Construction) software is an asset.
  • Exceptional blue print and specification reading/writing ability.
  • Good oral/written communication skills including report writing.
  • A solid understanding of the OBC. Current BCIN qualifications an asset, but not necessary.
  • Sound knowledge of all aspects of residential construction to instruct and provide direction to sub-trades on site.
  • Ability to present oral reports to Municipal planning departments and interact with building departments for minor variances and building permit submission.
